March Meeting Notes

Thanks to everyone who attended our last meeting. Dr Tim Curry presented a great deal of very interesting diving-related medical information.

April Meeting Agenda

April's meeting will be somewhat informal; we hope to hear about several recent dive activities from members and perhaps watch a video of some cave diving in Wisconsin.

We'll also discuss plans for summer diving.

Bonne Terre Mine Trip

Roger Southwick is planning a trip to Bonne Terre Mine near St Louis Missouri for a 4-day weekend (Fri-Mon) June 10-13. Check out all the info here.

Gas Blending Class

Several club members recently became certified as nitrox and trimix gas blenders. We had a great time in class and in the gas-mixing "lab". Special thanks to Jim Campos and John Martin for sharing their expertise and providing the equipment and gases.

A few of us left foggy Rochester at 7:15am Sunday for a day at Wazee. The weather was absolutely perfect, the water was a balmy 40F, the p-valves were (mostly) working, and the ticks were biting. It was hard to imagine that only a couple weeks ago the lake was still covered with ice.

The more adventurous guys spent their first dive on the new deep platform, using a hacksaw to cut a chain that held about 400 pounds of iron tiller discs to the platform so the dry wood didn't float up. It's soaking wet now and stays in place without the extra weight. After watching this difficult task for a while, Dave Merbach and I headed off to practice some skills.

We spent most of the afternoon lounging around in the sunshine, visiting, getting sunburned, avoiding John P's stinky drysuit, teasing Joe about his "zygen" tank labels, and talking about diving. Most of us did a second dive and stayed toasty warm in our drysuits thanks to the miracle gas Argon. Wonderful stuff.

John returns from another fun dive.
Todd thanks Joe for being such a good dive buddy.
Todd heads back to the world of gravity.
